JAMELLE ZAMAR
Jamelle Zamar is an accomplished pianist, singer and songwriter. A native of Temple, Texas, Zamar began taking classical piano lessons at age seven. Shortly after, he began playing and singing in church, as well as teaching and directing choirs. This is the musical foundation that would make Jamelle Zamar.
In 2004, Zamar had the privilege of playing at the Lincoln Center (NYC) in front of the jazz legend, Wynton Marsalis. Zamar was presented with an award for his outstanding solo that evening. “It was Wynton Marsalis who pulled me aside that night and began to whisper words of advice to me, a young, timid church boy. He challenged me to start thinking outside of the box (musically) and to embrace more than just gospel music”, says Zamar. That moment created a new drive and passion in the heart of Jamelle Zamar for music as a whole. It was in this moment that Zamar knew he was called to more than just the “church”, but the world. |
